“Supporting Lactation in the NICU/Special Care Nursery"” is a one-day conference on Friday, April 11, from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, located at the Illinois Central College Peoria Campus in Hickory Hall, Room 131. Food will be provided with gluten free and plant-based options (cross contamination may occur).

In-person registration is $75 and will close on Friday, April 4. Attendees will receive an email on Wednesday, April 9 with more details. Attendees must be present for the entire conference to receive continuing education hours. A recording will be available for 30 days after the conference.

“Supporting Lactation in the NICU/Special Care Nursery” will appeal to anyone who supports families who are providing human milk - especially those with infants who were born early, separated from their parents after delivery, or who are dependent on pumping to establish a milk supply. We are excited to welcome our two guest speakers: Paula Meier, PhD, RN and Melissa Millinger, LCSW, PMH-C.

Topics being presented include: Supplementation for Mother's Own Milk-Fed Late Preterm and Early Term Infants, Mental Health Concerns for Parents with a Baby in the NICU/SCU/Special Needs, Standardizing a Personal Approach to Pumping for Breast Pump Dependent Mothers of NICU Infants, Overview of the Experience of Local NICU/SCN Parents and Supporting Parents with the Transition from Hospital to Home.
